Single Use Support in the economic upswing despite CoronaReading time: 2 minutes
While for most companies in Tyrol the corona crisis means passing an economic test of fire, the Kufstein start-up company Single Use Support achieved a significant increase in sales in the first quarter of 2020. The technologies of the biopharma supplier founded in 2016 are now also in development of a vaccine against COVID-19, which results in sustainable economic growth.
A well-known biotech company from the USA, which is researching the development of a vaccine against COVID-19, trusts the technologies of single use support in the clinical phases. The products used for this, RoSS and RoSS.KSET, ensure safe transport and efficient storage of the high-quality active ingredients in single use bags. In addition, the US company recently ordered mechatronic systems for freezing and thawing the developed SARS-CoV-2 virus vaccine worth over 1 million euros.
Economic growth predicted
Single Use Support was able to establish itself as a reliable partner in the biopharma industry and represents a sought-after strategic component in the supply chain of pharmaceutical manufacturers in these times – which are also groundbreaking for biopharma companies. This development is also reflected in the Kufstein company’s ambitious economic results: compared to the first half of 2019, single use support expects a 500% increase in sales in the first half of 2020. Founders and managing directors Johannes Kirchmair and Thomas Wurm screwed the sales target for 2020 upwards from EUR 10 to 14 million due to the positive order situation. The planned values underpin the economic stability that the proud winner of the Austrian Young Entrepreneur Award 2019 in the category “Export”, which is awarded by the business magazine “Gewinn”, can show after only a few years of existence. The economic upturn is also having an extremely positive impact on personnel development. “There are currently over 30 employees at Single Use Support. The goal is still to increase to over 40 employees by the end of the year, ”says Thomas Wurm.
