Case Study: Reducing product loss | Bag-independence

The choice of single-use bioprocess containers in biopharmaceutical handling has had consequences for the performance and requirements in biomanufacturing until now. Lack of compatibility and inflexibility of platform systems have determined future investments. It therefore has lead to increased operational and capital expenditures and added complexity in the manufacturing process for CDMO.

A global CDMO, developing and manufacturing drug products for different customers, has set its goal to find single-use bag-independent solutions to increase process flexibility whilst minimizing product loss rate. Together with Single Use Support the company has conducted first trials with RoSS technology as bag-independent protection for all available single-use bags on the market.

This case study compares different suppliers of protective single-use shell solutions for single-use bags with a strong focus on the effects of bag-(in)dependence for the CDMO and bottom line reduction of product loss.
